I have just managed to compile and run the development version of adept on Fedora Core Development, using apt-rpm. It currently only works in read-only mode, that is, you can fiddle with the interface but nothing much else (specifically no download or commit). Not that the debian version does much more.

Anyhow, this is nice progress and it also means that other rpm-based distributions can eventually pick up adept as their package manager, if they like. I think at least the ones using primarily KDE and apt could be interested.

The current plan is to support the read-only mode (as much as i manage, anyhow) using apt-rpm in adept 2.2. The commit/download support will eventually have to wait until 2.4 since i won’t have all that much time for 2.2 or 2.3 given the aggressive release schedule (especially if i have to get 2.3 into edgy).
